It’s Official

Rap is completely and officially in it’s doo-wop era.

I mean I barely know what to think about this.  These dudes clearly are just about that dollar.  They know that A LOT of white girls might be into this song, and they can stack a little paper.  Clearly they aren’t going for street cred, and it won’t be an issue because I’m pretty sure they don’t want any.  Oh, and by the way, this isn’t there only song about surfing.

Let me put it this way, I’m not into this song, I just think the fact that rap like this is popular these days is really really interesting.  I don’t like all of it, but I can appreciate part of what is going on.  This isn’t some dissertation on the musical anthropology of Hip Hop.  I’ll I’m saying is that all musical forms go through different evolutions and mutations, some people will love it, some people will hate it.  I’ll probably discuss all of this shit again some other time.  How I feel about it is that as long as nobody forces me to listen to music I don’t like, I don’t really care.   As long as good music is still being produced by somebody somewhere, I’ll be happy.
